So here is what we propose to you:
Handstand & Flexibility Workshops
(2 hours each)
DAY: 15 December
TIME: Handstands (12:00-14:00) | Flexibility (14:30-16:30)
FEES: 30€/workshop, 50€ if you participate in both workshops
WHAT YOU NEED: Sport outfit, a small towel and lots of energy!
REQUIRED LEVEL: Open to all (from beginner to advanced)

Handstands – Inversions:
In this workshop we will work on inversions/handstands. We will cover the straight handstand fundamentals and technique and work on our lines first on the floor and wall before moving to some freestanding work. We will start with a dynamic warm up concentrating on finding correct alignment, creating body tension, strengthening the core and mobilizing the whole body in order to prepare it for handstands. Different ways to enter and exit a handstand will be explored in order to build up confidence and refine technique. We will go through a variety of drills in order to build coordination and tension needed for the straight handstand and we will then play with some leg/shoulder variations to keep it fun – and a bit challenging for the brave ones! – before finishing up with a series of relaxation exercises that focus on releasing tension and preventing injuries.
Flexibility – Bend With Control:
In this workshop we will focus on the correct technique, alignment and muscle engagement and tension in order to prevent injuries while improving our flexibility, strength and control. We will start with a dynamic warm up to mobilize the whole body, with special attention to our neck, shoulders, spine and hips. We will go through a variety of active flexibility drills targeting those areas in order to build up the engagement and stability of the surrounding, supporting muscles. Both active and passive flexibility exercises will be used to reach our maximum range of motion and extend it even more through a variety of progressions (adjusted for different levels). The focus will always be on getting deeper on our flexibility practice safely and with control. We will finish with a series of relaxation exercises that focus on releasing tension and preventing injuries.
ABOUT ELLIE SKOUROGIANNI:
Ellie is a circus artist based in the Netherlands, specialized in contortion/flexibility, aerial hoop and handbalancing. She is a former rhythmic gymnast and has a coaching degree from the British Gymnastics Foundation. Fell in love with circus accidentally in Scotland and started her performing arts journey at CODARTS University of the Arts in Rotterdam after finishing the MA Architecture degree which she was attending at the time. She graduated from the BA in Circus at Codarts in 2019. During that time, she has performed for various events and festivals (such as the Circusstad, PERPLX, BigDay, Korzo and Saristra festivals) and teaches her disciplines to a wide international audience varying from kids to professionals.
